“Érase una vez la cultura queer” es una colección de fanzines que celebra nuestra historia y memoria colectiva. Unpequeño homenaje a todos aquellos personajes, eventos, películas o canciones que década por década influyeron en la creación de nuestras complejas y contradictorias identidades feministas y queer. Cada fanzine de la serie recopila los fragmentos que componen una historia cultural alternativa que celebra la creación de iconografías e identidades ubicadas en los márgenes de la sociedad.

Illustrators needed for queer zine!
Una Buena Barba (literally, “a nice big beard”, in Spanish) is a kick-ass Spanish, soon to be bilingual, magazine about queer and feminist culture.
We are looking for illustrators for a zine we will be printing and presenting in late April. The topic is queer idols and icons. The zine will be a family album of sorts, featuring 20 illustrations of people who have influenced the queer movement in some way. It could be anyone, from Butler, to Bowie, Peppermint Patty to Lady Gaga. We want to feature as diverse a range of idols as possible, with a wide spectrum of genders, occupations, and races.
The zine will be sold at a literary event in Madrid in April, and possibly in bookshops as well.
SPECIFICATIONS
- The illustration must be in black & white
- You can use whatever technique you wish as log as you send it in a digital format
- The image resolution must be 300dpi
- The size must not exceed A5
Final date for submissions: April 8th
Unfortunately we cannot afford to pay anyone at this time. Our earnings will be used to cover printing costs.
